Care And Repair Officer (Part time) – Helensburgh, Lomond and Bute

To Cover Helensburgh, Lomond & Bute
Salary: £29, 000 – £35,000 per annum (pro rata)

This is a permanent part-time post based on 3 days per week (21hrs), 09.00 to 17.00, with the potential to become a full time post, and reports to the Care and Repair General Manager. You will visit clients in their own homes, following referral from Occupational Therapy, to review and discuss the local authority disability grant application process and other funding applications to allow for essential major adaptations works to be completed, such as wet floor and level access showering, stairlifts, ramps, toileting, track and hoists and internal wheelchair access. Our CRO’s manage the complete project and grant application process on behalf of their client and therefore prepare all drawings, specifications, invite tenders, obtain consents and ensure that all works are completed satisfactorily.  Our CRO’s also offer advice and assistance to our client group in identifying and repairing building defects.

You will be entirely home-based and will require excellent IT and admin skills and be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook email.  Experience in producing basic technical drawings essential utilising computerised 2D technical drawing packages would be beneficial, although training will be provided.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be sympathetic to the daily needs and challenges faced by the elderly and disabled in addition to an understanding of building construction methods and local authority building standards and planning regulations. You will be an excellent time manager and be able to demonstrate experience prioritising multiple projects.

A formal qualification such as HNC in Building Construction or similar, or associated trade experience would be preferred.  You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and listening and be able to talk confidently to clients, building contractors, product suppliers and our health and local authority colleagues.

You must have a right to work in the UK, have a clean and current UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle (an essential car users allowance and business use mileage rate are provided). The successful candidate will also have to agree to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check being carried out.  Previous work references will be taken up for the successful candidate.
