What People Say About Our Service

The one thing all our staff have in common – whether it is our Care and Repair Officers supporting you through the grant and contractor process for major adaptations, or our Housing Support Officers installing Telecare devices or aids and adaptations prescribed by the Technology Enabled Care team or your Occupational Therapist or carrying out small repairs in your home, or our office staff dealing with your enquiries – we all care passionately that our clients receive the best advice, guidance and support that we can provide.

Below is a sample of some of the great customer feedback and comments we have received directly or from our satisfaction survey questionnaires:

Just to let Alex’s manager know just how impressed I have been with the service I have received from Alex these last couple of weeks. Alex has been out to fit various aids, adaptations and electronic devices. It has been an absolute pleasure to be in his company, he has shown great compassion and has been so interesting to spend time with, on top which I am delighted with Alex work, it has been flawless and meticulous.
and I can’t thank yhim enough. (Client, Dunoon & Cowal Feb 2023)

Duncan was so kind and caring.  He carried out the joinery work required quickly and efficiently.  What a great ambassador for the Care And Repair Service.  (Client, Bute, July 2022)

Scott who completed the fire alarms work was brilliant. Really friendly and caring, just the sort of person required for this sort of work. The whole process was simple and reassuring. Also, a really lovely and helpful lady in the office gave us advice on the phone with regards to buying the alarms. A very satisfying experience all round.  We are very grateful. (Client, Mull, Aug 2022)

Just wanted to let you know how delighted we are with our new wet room. We have not been able to have a shower for a number of years other than during hospital stays.  You have no idea the improvement in the quality of life this will make. Nothing was any bother for the contractor. They did exactly what they said they would do and just got on with the work and it was completed on time. We are so grateful to everyone involved. A professional job, great workmanship and left everything clean and tidy.
Best wishes (Client, Mid Argyll, Aug 2022)

‘New wet room adaptation. Good quality of work and the contractor was simply A1. No complaints, very happy. 10 out of 10’.  (Client, Dunoon Oct 2019)

Can I thank you (Care and Repair Officer) for the skillful work in designing the job, choosing a competitive tender and getting the work done to a high standard.  The wet room is used daily and we are delighted with what you have provided. We also thank Argyll and Bute Council for the generous grant towards the quite reasonable cost and the speed and care with which the contractor and his workers completed it. (Client, Islay Oct 2019)

‘Recent small repair to water ingress issue was completed to high quality standard and service is very good’. (Client, Helensburgh, Oct 2019)

I would have found it impossible to have a shower or use the toilet, even with assistance, if the bathroom had not been adapted and completed when it was. Thank you. (Client,  Oban )

This was an excellent job (bathroom adaptation) very well carried out.  (Client, Campbeltown)

“Apologies for the delay in writing, but I would like to commend your officer who was punctual, polite and very tidy.” (Client, Helensburgh)

“I have always been very happy with the care and attention I have received from your Officer” (Client, Bute)

“Help with small jobs is essential if the elderly are to continue to live in their own homes with confidence.  It is very difficult and expensive to find tradespeople willing to come promptly for small jobs. 10 out of 10, very satisfied.” (Client, Lomond area)

“The work is always carried out in a professional way with the utmost courtesy.  Also, it is always done at the time arranged”. (Client, Dunoon)

“The usual Officer who comes to our house is a lovely quiet gentleman who is so willing to help accommodate – he has helped enormously.  When he was on holiday recently your other Officer came to do a repair and he worked incredibly hard to fulfill the job.  Although it was not easy he thought it through, got the parts required and got other information for the future”. (Client, Cowal)

“Shower – level access:  Unfortunately mum passed away in August, but I have completed the form as the work carried out by Care and Repair allowed her to carry on living independently in her home right till the end. I know she was very happy with the level of service and with the professionalism and friendliness of staff.  Thank you.” (Client, Oban)

“I wish to express my thanks to your officer for his care & attention. He is a credit to Care & Repair and it’s very reassuring to know he can be called upon when small repairs are required. Being widowed and living alone can be stressful, so your service is invaluable.”  (Client, Helensburgh)

“We are incredibly grateful for this service at a time in our lives where we are going through very distressing circumstances and struggling so much that we cannot even change a lightbulb. Friends recommended your service and your officer has been to us on numerous occasions. He is an absolute gentleman, kind and efficient and in an emergency, he has re-scheduled his work to fit us in. We cannot express what a difference this has made in our lives. We did not know that you are a registered Charity and we feel you should promote this as people you have helped may wish to make a donation.” (Clients, Dunoon)

“We would like to thank you for the way you guided us through the adaptation of our bathroom. Something that could have been stressful was made so much easier by you and the friendly and helpful OT.  All the paper work being explained and handled for us was a great help. The contractor carried out the work with consideration and were a pleasure to have in our home.  We are very happy with our new bathroom and grateful to everyone for their input”

(Client, Dunbeg)

“Now that the dust has – literally – settled I would like to write to thank you for all your help in getting the bathroom transformed. To say I am thrilled with the finished room is an enormous understatement.  It does make life so much more pleasant!  The contractor was wonderful and pleasant to have around – Thank you all so much”.

(Client, Benderloch)

“Thank you for all your hard work in helping us with our home’s adaptations.  Without your sympathy and vision none of this would have happened”.

(Client, Dunoon)

“Enclosed is a cheque for £100 that I hope you will accept as a donation to your charity. I am very grateful for the help given by your Officer to carry out the work required.  I have also found the free advice provided invaluable and it disappoints me this is not considered worth charging for as it has been a tremendous support. Overall, I am very grateful to Care and Repair for the reassurance and help given. As someone with a recognised memory problem I have had to have things repeated many times and help with note taking. I do admire your HSO’s patience.

With many thanks for your continued support”

“Excellent service carried out by a professional, pleasant and efficient housing support officer as was the experience with the previous officer. Invaluable service to the elderly”
